Monsters are invading Wellfield Botanic Gardens!
Bring the whole family out for safe and fun family-friendly events and some trick-or-treating! All are welcome to come dressed in costume (or not). This event is intended for all ages and is not intended to scare, but to amaze and educate. In addition to Wellfield’s Fabulous Fall displays, we’ve got tons of fun activities, from fishes to witches!
Join us at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. for live animal shows from Silly Safaris! From their website: A Silly Safaris LIVE Animal show is the perfect blend of fact and fun for all ages! Our shows use a variety of reptiles, mammals, birds and bugs for an experience everyone will remember. Our funologists keep the entire audience involved and special guests from the audience join each animal for a game that teaches about the natural world. Families love Silly Safaris, teens enjoy our hip cultural references, and adults try to catch our comedy!
City of Elkhart Aquatic Biologist Daragh Deegan will be on our Event Plaza, sharing ‘hands on’ fisheries biology with guests! The Aquatics Program is a joint effort between the Cities of Elkhart and South Bend to evaluate the health of the St. Joseph and Elkhart Rivers and their tributaries. The programs main focus is to evaluate the fish communities of local rivers and streams. For more about the Aquatics Program, click here.
Children’s author Cheri L. Hallwood will be in our Children’s Garden to share her wonderful book, “One Wish for Winifred Witch”, a truly magical tale with a surprising twist.
Cheri dazzles young children with her costumed-portrayal of Aunt Broomhilda from the book, as she acts out scenes for her audience. Cheri will do live performances from the book at 5:30 and 6:15, and she will be available to sign her books you’ve purchased until 7:30 p.m. at our Visitors Cottage.
Need a bite to eat? Hot Dog Eddy’s will be onsite serving up delicious hot dogs and snacks! Get ’em while they’re hot. And if you haven’t been to Hot Dog Eddy’s, check out their restaurant located on South Main Street in Elkhart.
