Photography in Focus
Wednesdays, August 18-September 8th
Photography in Focus will help you learn how to use that camera that’s been sitting in your closet collecting dust! Sign up for individual classes or for the whole series. Bring your own DSLR camera and learn from the pros! (Class size is limited to 15) We’ll meet at the Education Tent near our Event Plaza, and head out from there to learn and shoot. Please dress for the weather.

Week 1 (August 18, 2021) – Understanding Photography Basics, Part 1 – DSLR Camera settings and shooting modes
You will learn the basics of photography and how to apply it using your DSLR camera. You will learn the different shooting modes on your camera and explore the manual settings. This class will discuss achieving the correct exposure with lighting, movement & depth of field. This class will be taught by Nicole Hardy from Impulse Imagery.
Week 2 (August 25, 2021) – Understanding Photography Basics, Part 2 – Take Better Pictures Using Manual Mode
You’ll dive deeper into using manual mode on your DSLR camera. You will discuss achieving correct exposure using your camera settings, including ISO, shutter speed and aperture. Taught by Mike and Dawn Mitchell from Digital Mitchell Photography.
Week 3 (September 1, 2021) – How to Achieve Professional Photos
This week’s class will cover different photography camera types, gear, lenses and post production, including file types and photo software. Taught by Mike and Dawn Mitchell.
Week 4 (September 8, 2021) – Lighting / Composition / Posing
To finish our series, you will discuss how to handle different lighting situation using your DSLR to achieve desired results for your image. You will also learn different elements of composition and how it applies to photography. Lastly, you will learn tips on how to pose your subject for the best results and images. This class will be taught by Nicole Hardy.
