Our horticulture staff is busy, busy, busy these days – you wouldn’t think so, given the weather, but trust us, they are! So, we’ve given them the next couple weeks off from blogging about plants and all things horticulture. But we have something coming up at Wellfield – you may have heard of it?
It’s that time again – Winter Wonderland Holiday Lights (WWHL, as we call it), presented by Welch Packaging, is upon us!
We thought we’d take this time to answer some of our most frequently asked WWHL questions. Covid made us change up our routine a little last year (as it did in every part of life!), but this year, we’re back to “normal” – whatever that may be!
So, to help you get ready – here are the answers you’ve most frequently been seeking!
Are tickets on sale now?
YES – and until Thanksgiving night, they are discounted! Click HERE to purchase tickets now!
Will tickets still be available after Thanksgiving night?
YES – plenty of tickets will be available ONLINE, at our Visitors Cottage, or at the gate each evening.
Will tickets be discounted after Thanksgiving night?
YES – if you are a member at Wellfield, you receive discounted tickets ALL SEASON, in advance at our Visitors Cottage, or in person at the gate. Please present your membership card to receive discounts on up to 2 adult tickets (to those named on the card), and for your children/grandchildren.
Do I have to tell you what night we want to use the tickets?
NO – tickets are good ANY NIGHT. Just present your printed tickets or show us the tickets on your phone.
Not a planner? Purchase tickets online or at the gate any night of our WWHL show!
Where can we park?
If you’ve visited this year, you know we have some major construction going on, and it’s affected access to the Gardens. Please park at the large lot at the NE corner of Main/Simonton and make the short walk over to our admission line – the path will be well-lit and clear. Our lot will be handicap access ONLY for parking, and drop-off only for all others. We know it’s a pain, but we promise once you are dazzled by 1 million lights, you’ll forget all about the construction!
When is the best day/time to visit?
While we expect every night to be busy, we’ve found Sundays are a little less crowded than other nights. And we hate to give out this secret, but here goes: arrive later in the evening; the crowds tend to be smaller as we approach 8 p.m. So, go grab some dinner, then come to Wellfield to walk it off! You’ll likely spend less time waiting to get in, and you’ll still have plenty of time to enjoy the lights. Just plan on being in line by 8 p.m., as our gates will close for the evening at 8:09. Lights out at 8:59 nightly! Can’t stay out that late? Our largest line is always at 5:30, so even arriving 20 minutes later than that will help you avoid the biggest crowds.
We bought tickets, but cannot make it. Can we give our tickets to a friend?
YES – because tickets are good any night, feel free to visit on another of our 17 nights, or gift your tickets to a friend to use. Refunds are not available for any reason; unused tickets will be considered a much appreciated donation to Wellfield.
