Historically, this is always a busy week at Wellfield Botanic Gardens, and this year was no exception. While we welcomed members back for Member Appreciation Week in advance of our public reopening, staff and volunteers were busy throughout the Gardens planting the thousands of annuals we received.
As we celebrate Kisetsu: The Year of the Island Garden, the designs this year take on a distinct Asian aesthetic to recognize the opening of our Japanese-inspired Island Garden. The Quilt Garden is designed as a folded origami peace crane, while the Annual Garden takes one of 2021’s Origami in the Garden2 sculptures, Emerging Peace, and unfolds it.
Other bedding displays, including the larger container designs, are all inspired by Japanese aesthetics. Enjoy the pictures of the developing gardens, but come see the real thing for yourself! Wellfield is open, 7 days a week, 12 – 6 p.m. For more information on visiting, and details of our Modified Visitation guidelines, click HERE.
