It’s all coming together! But we still need YOU.

Volunteers and staff put the finishing touches on the Garden.

It is such an exciting time at the Gardens! If you follow this blog, you know we just received ALL the annual flowers we will be featuring in the Gardens this year. Literally, a semi truck pulled up to our maintenance area to drop them off. That’s a LOT of flowers!IMG_7217

Some of these flowers will go in our Quilt Garden, but most will be planted in our Annual and other Gardens. Who does this planting, you ask? So glad you did. As Wellfield is still a relatively new entity, our staff is limited. We currently have 2 full-time horticulture staff and 2 part-time staffers. Clearly, they need help to get everything accomplished that needs doing to make the Gardens as beautiful as they are!

The picture at the top shows our dedicated volunteers hard at work this morning getting our Quilt Garden “Window to Waters” planted. We are so happy to have a Quilt Garden again, after a couple year hiatus, so we can help celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Quilt Gardens in Elkhart County. And our Seward Johnson sculpture, Inner World, Outer World will be happy to have the company.

Despite the Quilt Garden getting planted, we still need lots of help. If you haven’t yet, please consider volunteering. If working outside in the Gardens isn’t your thing, we can use your help as a Greeter in our Visitor’s Cottage on weekends and for our upcoming events. Or, you can help us behind the scenes – there is always a way to lend a helping hand and be a part of this wonderful, “growing” community!

For more information, contact Jodie Papandrea at 574-266-2006 or j.papandrea@wellfieldgardens.org, or you can click here to learn more. You can also stop by our Visitor’s Cottage and pick up an application; we are open Monday-Saturday 9am-7pm and Sundays 11am-5pm.

See you in the Gardens!
