Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering at Wellfield  Botanic Garden is love made visible. Volunteers do more than just dig in the dirt. Volunteers help provide quality programs for students, give guided tours to our guests, give a warm welcoming smile as visitors enter the Visitors Cottage and the weed warriors help ensure the Gardens stay beautiful. If you are interested in giving the gift of your time to the Gardens there are many ways you can do so.

Greeters in the Visitors Cottage offer support to the staff and offer a welcoming smile to our guests. Each guest is important and we want them to know it. Volunteers help ensure that we meet the needs of our guests.

Field trip volunteers are in high demand this month. We have several school groups visiting the Garden and it requires a team of volunteers to support their visit. Presenters lead hands on, educational activities or walks to the students. An Assistant is a set of helping hands to the Presenter. Training is provided and we are looking to add to our Educational Team.

Helping hands are needed to assist the staff with setting up tables and chairs for events like the Educational Symposium on May 6, Mother’s Day Luncheon on May 14, Groovin’ in the Gardens summer concert series and for special occasions like weddings and private parties. This is a fun way to be part of the action (as well as enjoying the events!)

Tour Guides offer guests a friendly and informative guide through the Garden. You do not need to be an expert to give a guide. Join us for a guided tour on Tuesday, May 9th to learn more about the Gardens and giving tours. Register online at Tour for Volunteers Tuesday, May 9 at 11:00 Golf cart drivers are also needed to provide tours to those that may need some assistance.

We are always looking for more weed warriors in the Garden. Horticulture volunteers meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30 – 11:30. We have an awesome group of volunteers that have a lot of fun together. The month of May we will be planting our NEW Quilt Garden, pulling weeds, pruning, spreading mulch, mowing, etc…the list goes on.

If you are interested in joining our volunteer team, please complete an Online Volunteer Application or contact us at or 574-266-2006.
