“A man doesn’t plant a tree for himself. He plants it for posterity.”
We’re nearing completion of our 10th official year dedicated to our Mission: Promoting the inseparable relationship between water, plants and animals; Being a source for inspiration, creativity and education; Fostering stewardship for the natural world, and Bringing people together and building community.
Let me share a few of the highlights in 2015:
- Over 1800 elementary students received guided tours – tripling our 2014 totals;
- Over 20,000 total guests were welcomed through our gates – the largest yearly total thus far;
- Wellfield invested in professional development opportunities for core staff, which included: Permaculture Certification, training in Operational Excellence, Indiana Master Naturalist training, Nature Explore Workshops and Pruning in the Japanese Tradition;
- We increased sustainability efforts across ALL aspects of our operations (both environmental and fiscal) as well as bolstered our presence in the greater community and region.
This growth as a private, not-for-profit organization wouldn’t be possible without your support. While revenues generated from admissions and sales of memberships are a critical piece to our sustainability, they represent only a portion of our annual operating budget. We beginning to bridge this financial gap with other earned revenues but also depend on the generosity of supporters to fulfill our mission. Please, will you help us support critical operations that continue to make positive impacts in our community?
Your tax deductible, year end gift can make a significant difference in funding essential programs that further our Mission. Your gift will directly support costs associated with our annual plants and bulbs display, educational programs, and the staff and volunteers who provide tours for elementary school children.
Please consider making a gift that ensures a new beginning; a gift that plants a seed that will grow, blossom and inspire future generations. Click here to make your donation securely and conveniently online.
On behalf of our Board of Directors, Staff, and valued Volunteers, THANK YOU for your support. We send our warmest wishes to you for this holiday season and the New Year ahead.
